Kubota expands Salina manufacturing as SVL75-3 loader joins production line

Kubota North America said Tuesday that it is expanding construction equipment manufacturing at its Great Plains Manufacturing subsidiary in Salina, Kansas, and will assemble the SVL75-3 compact track loader on the same line as the SVL65-2.

The company said the move is intended to raise production capacity, add jobs and widen its manufacturing footprint in Kansas. Kubota also said the expansion is meant to strengthen U.S. and Canadian supply chains and increase the amount of equipment it builds in North America with globally sourced parts.

The announcement was made at a ceremony in Salina that included company officials and local and state representatives, according to Kubota. U.S. Sen. Jerry Moran said the expansion would bring more skilled jobs to Salina and reinforce Kansas as a hub for equipment innovation.

Kubota North America President Todd Stucke said the expanded output is intended to help the company serve dealers and customers more quickly. In the company’s release, Stucke said the Salina operation will increase output of what Kubota describes as America’s No. 1-selling compact track loader.

The company said that claim is based on EDA/UCC data covering Jan. 1, 2021, through Dec. 31, 2025.

The Salina announcement adds to a series of investments Kubota says it has made in the area in recent years. The release said the company earlier broke ground on a compact construction equipment test center in Salina for North American design and engineering work. It also said Kubota’s construction equipment infrastructure investments in Salina now total more than $300 million.

Kubota said other strategic investments date back to 2016, when development of construction machinery attachments began, and to 2021, when the CERDNA facility was established. The company also said it remains committed to expanding facilities in Salina and in north Georgia, where Kubota Manufacturing of America is headquartered.

Great Plains Manufacturing, founded in 1976, is described by Kubota as a subsidiary based in Salina with more than 2,300 employees worldwide. The company said all Kubota products built in the United States contain globally sourced components and parts.

Kubota did not say in the release when the expanded production line would reach full output.
