CPSC recalls Drinkmate 1-liter carbonation bottles over explosion hazard

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recalled certain Drinkmate 1-liter carbonation bottles because they can explode during use, creating impact, laceration and hearing-damage hazards.

The bottles were sold in the United States and Canada and were included in some Drinkmate OmniFizz starter kits, according to the agency.

About 106,200 bottles were recalled in the United States and about 5,000 were sold in Canada, the CPSC said. The recall covers Drinkmate 1L Carbonation Bottles with clear PET bodies and caps and bases in red, blue, white and black plastic. Only bottles with expiration dates printed on the side between 01/2026 and 10/2026 are included.

The agency said Drinkmate has received eight reports of bottles exploding while in use. Four of those reports involved lacerations, impact injuries and hearing damage.

The bottles were sold individually and as part of some Drinkmate OmniFizz starter kits, the CPSC said. The company is identified as IDrink Products Inc. dba Drinkmate, Inc., of Saline, Michigan.

Consumers should stop using the recalled bottles immediately, the agency said. Drinkmate is directing customers to fill out a replacement form, upload a photo of the bottle permanently marked with the word “Recall,” dispose of the bottle and then use a code to order a free replacement bottle with shipping included.

The recall notice lists Drinkmate’s toll-free number at 844-812-6241, available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, and the email address [email protected]. More information is available on the company’s recall webpage.
